시골에 간 젊은 의사의 진단 - English Joke, 영어유머

A young doctor had moved out to a small community to replace a doctor who was retiring.  

한 작은 시골마을에 늙은 의사가 은퇴하게 되어, 그 일을 넘겨받으러 한 젊은 의사가 갔습니다.

 

The older gent suggested the young one accompany him on his rounds so the community could become used to a new doctor. 

늙은 의사는 마을사람들이 새로운 의사에게 익숙해지도록 함께 왕진을 돌자고 제안했습니다.

 

At the first house a woman complained, "I've been a little sick to my stomach." 

첫번째 집에서 여자가 불평을 했습니다, "배가 좀 계속 아파요."

 

The older doctor said, "Well, you've probably been overdoing the fresh fruit. Why not cut back on the amount you've been eating and see if that does the trick?" 

늙은 의사가 말했습니다. "아마도 과일을 너무 많이 먹어서 그런것 같네요. 먹는 양을 좀 줄여보시고, 효과가 있는지 한번 봐봐요."

 

As they left the younger man said, "You didn't even examine that woman. How'd you come to your diagnosis so quickly?" 

그 집을 떠나면서 젋은 의사가 물었습니다, "아니 그 여자를 검사도 안했는데. 어떻게 그렇게 빨리 진단을 할 수 있는 거죠?"

 

"I didn't have to.  You noticed I dropped my stethoscope on the floor in there?  When I bent over to pick it up, I noticed a half dozen banana peels in the trash.  That was what was probably making her sick." 

"그럴 필요가 없었어. 자네도 알다시피 거기서 내가 청진기를 바닥에 떨었뜨렸잖아? 그걸 주우려고 몸을 굽혔을때 쓰레기통에 바나나 껍질 여섯개가 있는걸 봤거든. 그게 아마도 원인이었을 거야."

 

"Huh," the younger doctor said, "Pretty clever.  I think I'll try that at the next house." 

"허," 젊은 의사가 말했습니다, "엄청 똑똑하세요. 저도 다음집에서 해봐야 겠네요."

 

Arriving at the next house, they spent several minutes talking with an elderly woman. 

다음 집에 도착해서 그들은 나이 많은 여자와 몇분간 대화를 나눴습니다.

 

She complained that she just didn't have the energy she once did. "I'm feeling terribly run down lately." 

여자는 예전처럼 힘을 쓸 수 없다고 불평했습니다. "나는 요즘 엄청 피곤함을 많이 느껴요."

 

"You've probably been doing too much work for the church," the younger doctor told her.  "Perhaps you should cut back a bit and see if that helps." 

"아마 교회 일을 너무 많이 하셔서 일거에요", 젊은 의사가 그녀에게 말했습니다. "교회일을 좀 줄여보시고 한번 보시죠."

 

As they left, the elder doc said, "Your diagnosis is almost certainly correct, but how did you arrive at it?" 

떠나면서, 늙은 의사가 물었습니다, "자네 진단은 거의 정확했어, 근데 어떻게 알게된거야?"

 

"Well, just like you at the last house, I dropped my stethoscope.  When bent down to retrieve it, I noticed the preacher under the bed."

"그게, 지나번 집에서 선생님이 하신것과 똑같이 저도 청진기를 떨어뜨렸어요. 그걸 주우려고 몸을 구부렸더니, 침대 아래에 전도사가 있더군요."
