(튜브영어) 바보, 멍청이 라는 단어로 사용되기도 하는 loon 새의 울음 소리

loon 새는 주로 북미에 사는 새입니다. 크기는 오리 정도로 오리, 거위처럼 물위에서 떠 다니면서 물고기를 잡아먹고 삽니다.

울음소리가 사람소리 같이 특이한 점 때문에 멍청한 사람을 loon 새로 놀리기도 합니다.

마치 "닭대가리" 같은 의미로 ㅋㅋ

On many an occasion I've been camping in the Adirondacks,

and one of my favorite periods is right at dusk when the lake becomes absolutely glass-like.

 

The sun is setting but you can still see the silhouettes of trees, all these conical spires, beautiful reflection on the water for the last few bits of sunlight, and then you hear the wail of a loon.

You'll hear one individual of the pair give this long mournful wail, which is essentially saying "I'm here. Where are you?"

 

Generally moments later you'll hear the response from the other member of the pair giving its wail saying "I'm over here."

 

Loons are active at night.

It can be out on a beautiful Adirondack lake after dark or Northern Minnesota lake, and this is one of the characteristic evocative sounds you're going to hear from that area, something that will stick with you for the rest of your life.
